Membership of Blacon Community Trust

 Gus Cairns

Dear Friend of Blacon Community Trust

As part of our governance review we have identified that a requirement of our memorandum and articles of association is to keep a register of members and that we maintain a completed and signed membership form for each member.

We have sought advice from the Charity Commission and they have advised that we should write to all those currently listed as members of Blacon Community Trust to inform them that we do not have this information currently on file and that we now require those wishing to confirm their membership to complete a revised membership form and return it to the Dee Point Centre by 5pm on Monday 14th November, 2011.

All members must fill in the revised membership form, which acknowledges limited liability of £1, if they wish to still remain a member of the organisation and be included on the register of members. If you do not return a completed membership form, this will mean that you are no longer considered a member as  there is a requirement in the Memorandum  and Articles  section 5 that ‘every member shall either sign a written consent (membership form) or sign the register of members’. There is a copy of our Memorandum and Articles of Association on the notice board in Jo’s Café here in the Dee Point Centre if you wish to look at it.

Please note this does not stop people becoming members at any time in the future. We will ensure everyone on the current list has the opportunity to reapply and we would at the same time welcome new members. Just a reminder that membership is open to individuals who support the objects of the company and who are either living or working in the area of benefit – Blacon.

Please feel free to contact me via the BCT office if you require further information on this matter.

Yours sincerely

Gordon (Gus) Cairns

Joe Rose Children's Garden

E-mail Print PDF

Our chair of 12 years died recently after 25 years of service with the Trust and we would like to create a living memorial garden in his honour. Our vision is that the children will design and help create the garden (with for example Groundwork Trust or BCTV experts) and the local community. The outcomes that we would seek would be: a celebration of Joe's life, enhanced learning and fun play experiences, and enrichment of the children's overall interaction with their environment.
