Community Resources.

The Community Resources Team coordinates a range of diverse groups and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for people living in Blacon.

Among these are:

Blacon Furniture Project:
The furniture project provides affordable second-hand furniture and other household items to local residents and low-income families. It also helps in the re-use of these items by diverting them from landfill sites.

Blacon Volunteers:
In conjunction with the Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder / Chester Volunteer Network the BCT promote volunteering and it’s benefits to the individual and community.

Blacon Community & Arts Centre:
As leaseholders on behalf of the City Council the BCT are working hard to improve and maximise the use of this vital community resource.

The Community Centre offers a great deal of flexible space right in the centre of Blacon for use by the community and it’s organisations.

After a recent refurbishment the centre is able to offer new training facilities as well as a large hall area and smaller conference / activity room.

This vibrant community building is available to hire for rates that offer great value for receptions, parties, performances and large meetings.

For business and local organisations the centre offers a large meeting hall, a large conference table and a smaller training room.

With plans to create a community café the centre promises to be a true community hub for work, rest and play.

Santa’s Grotto:
Our Christmas present to the children of Blacon.

The KCC minibus run is used to transport elderly residents to the Age Concern day centre twice a week and provide a ‘library run’ once a week.

The Blacon Community and Young Ambassador Awards:
The popular annual awards ceremony that honours those who have been nominated by the people of Blacon for going ‘above and beyond’ in their dedication to the community.
